Education:

2004
Ph. D.: Physical (Organic) Chemistry

2000
Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Institutions: The Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Kanazawa University, Kakuma-machi 920-1192 Kanazawa, Japan, and The Institute of Molecular Science (IMS), Okazaki, Japan.

1997
Dottore in Chimica Industriale (Master in Industrial Chemistry)

Institutions: The University of Milan, Italy.

Research area:

Excellent knowledge on organic/inorganic synthesis, manipulation under strict anaerobic conditions (Schlenk technique, glove-box) of metallorganic and biological molecules. I master the tools for the purification of organic, metallorganic, and biological compounds (HPLC, gel-chromatography, size exclusion, electrophoresis, gel focusing).

He is very proficient on Quantum Chemical Calculations  (AM1, PM3, PM6, ZINDO/1, ZINDO/S) for both closed (R) and open-shell (U) molecule, with or without CI (configuration interaction), and in molecular mechanics (MMFF94), Monte Carlo and DFT methods.

Spectroscopic Techniques

  •  Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR, Models: Varian, Bruker, Jeol) operating at X and Q-band (9-33GHz) from cryogenic to room temperature with Oxford System or with continuous flow N2  cryostat. High/Field/High-Frequency EPR (Grenoble, CNRS)
  • Superconducting Quantum Interface Device SQUID (Quantum Design, MPMS-5)
  • CD-MCD (Jasco J 500C)
  • UV-Vis/nIR (HP, Jasco) under aerobic/anaerobic conditions
  • Stopped-flow UV-Vis spectrophotometer (Otsuka-Denshi RA)
  • Fluorecensce spectrophotometer (Perkin Elmer)
  • FT-IR (Perkin Elmer)
  • Resonance Raman/Raman
  • Atomic Absorption
