Ad Quantum correlation and entanglement between an ionizing system and a neighbor atom interacting directly and via a quantized field
Quantum correlations between two neighboring atoms are studied. It is assumed that one atomic system comprises a single auto-ionizing level and the other atom does not contain any auto-ionizing level. The excitation of both atoms is achieved by the interaction with the same mode of the quantized field. It is shown that the long-time behavior of two atoms exhibits quantum correlations even when the atoms do not interact directly. This can be shown using the optical excitation of the neighboring atom. Also a measure of entanglement of two atoms can be applied after reduction of the continuum to two levels.

Ad Dynamics of nonclassical properties of two-mode and four-mode Bose-Einstein condensates
A two-mode Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) prepared in a Fock state initially evolves due to the coupling of modes. The time evolution of nonclassical properties exhibits that inter-mode entanglement, single-mode and higher order antibunching are present. A four-mode BEC is considered with the initial minimum-energy Bloch states, and the nonclassical behaviour is confirmed.

Ad An alternative to the quantization of electro-optic feedback
A simple feedback system may be based on a beam splitter, a homodyne detection and a modulator. A single-mode treatment leads to violations of the commutation relations for an in-loop mode of the system. The lowering of noise of one quadrature has been labelled ‘squashing’. Violations of the commutation relations do not occur when one does not replace the c-number parameter of displacement in the modulator with an operator, even though the latter should be directly proportional to a quadrature measurement behind the beam splitter. This outcome is not a quantum-mechanical expectation value, but a random variable. In this framework, we analyse this system and another one, where the beam-splitter transmittance is modulated through a feedback loop. To predict the squeezing of a quadrature, it is necessary to realize a consistent quantization of the feedback circuit.

Ad Joint probability distributions and entanglement in optical parametric processes
Joint photon-number and integrated-intensity probability distributions are used for description of time evolution of optical parametric process including processes of frequency conversion, parametric amplification and subharmonic generation taking into account losses and noise. Using these tools quantum entanglement of modes based on the separability criteria is considered and nonclassical properties of the process under discussion are demonstrated by means of conditional probability distributions and their Fano factors, difference-number probability distributions, quantum oscillations, squeezing of vacuum fluctuations and negative values of the joint wave probability quasidistributions in time evolution. Sub-Poissonian and sub-shot-noise properties are illustrated for spontaneous process and stimulated process by means of chaotic light and squeezed light. Also the multimode processes are investigated in the spirit of the Mandel–Rice photocount formula. The description is applied to interpretation of experimental data.

Ad Sub-shot noise photon-number correlation in stimulated and spontaneous Raman processes
The light initially prepared in a coherent state runs the stimulated and spontaneous Raman processes in a second-order nonlinear medium. Using analytical expressions of field operators for the light modes, we determine the quantum statistical properties of the modes in the stimulated and spontaneous Raman processes. By a choice of phase, we obtain a boson-pair property correlating the pump and vibration modes and such a property correlating the pump and anti-Stokes modes. The Stokes and vibration modes exhibit the boson-pair property for all initial phase differences between the pump mode and the other ones. In the spontaneous Raman process only the Stokes and vibration modes show such a property.
