Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectrometer

Conversion electron and conversion X-ray Mössbauer spectrometer

Conversion electron Mössbauer spectrometry (CEMS) and conversion X-ray Mössbauer spectrometry (CXMS) are a pair of methods with which help we can investigate Mössbauer radiation in backscattering geometry (BMS – Backscattering Mössbauer spectrometry). These methods are highly suitable for studying of phase analyses of surface layers and thin films due to a short range of conversion electrons (300 nm) and conversion X-rays (1-10 mm), respectively.

CEMS and CXMS are supporting methods in nanotechnology, material physics, metallurgy, chemistry, archeometry, geology and mineralogy. Recorded spectra can bear valuable information e.g. about corrosion processes and their inhibition (phosphatizing of steel, study of oxide layers), catalysis, magnetic structures, or investigation of changes in properties of wrought surfaces.

We are producer of CEMS/CXMS spectrometer CEMS2010 (fig. 1 left, 2).
