About

CATRIN – Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM) is a scientific institute dedicated to chemical and materials research, particularly in nanotechnology and its applications in energy, environmental technologies, catalysis and biomedicine. It is part of the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University Olomouc.

CATRIN – RCPTM is a scientific centre committed to nanomaterials and chemical research. As of 2020, it is part of the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University Olomouc. The centre builds on the experience and results of the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials (RCPTM), which was established in 2010.

CATRIN – RCPTM focuses on the development of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies for energy extraction and storage, environmental applications, catalysis, and for applications in biomedicine and biotechnology. The research covers a wide range of low-dimensional carbon materials, 2D nanostructures, quantum dots and metal-based materials with unique magnetic, optical, electrical or biological properties.

CATRIN – RCPTM has a number of prominent scientific figures, including the four-time holder of prestigious European Research Council (ERC) grants Michal Otyepka, alongside Radek Zbořil or Patrik Schmuki, both of whom repeatedly feature on the list of the world's most highly cited scientists Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate Analytics.
