Dr. Giorgio Zoppellaro is a senior researcher at the CATRIN/RCPTM Institute in Olomouc. His research focuses on the application of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and Light-induced EPR spectroscopy at the interface of materials science, biophysics, nanomedicine, and photophysical spin-correlated phenomena. He obtained his first Master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry in 1997 from the University of Milan (Italy) and a second Master’s degree in Pharmacology in 2000 from Kanazawa University and the Institute for Molecular Science in Okazaki (Japan). He completed his PhD in 2004 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany), where he investigated high-spin molecules and organic molecular magnets in the group of Prof. Klaus Müllen at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. From 2005 to 2008, he held a postdoctoral position at the Karlsruhe Institute of Nanotechnology (Germany), followed by a research and lecturing appointment at the Department of Biophysics, University of Oslo, from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Zoppellaro is a recipient of a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship, has participated in European research projects funded under the FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020 frameworks, and authored 130 scientific publications (h-index of 40, Scopus 2026).
