Publication in Dalton Transactions

Two polymorphs of the [Co (neo)(CH3COO)2]]·compound, where neo = neocuproine, were prepared and characterized. Their magnetic properties were studied experimentally (magnetometry) and theoretically (ab initio calculations). It was revealed that small structural variations in these polymorphs resulted in significant change of their magnetic anisotropy. Furthermore, both polymorphs behave as field induced single molecule magnets.
