SC_007On November 11, 2015 the inventors from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry (Z. Trávníček, R. Křikavová J. Hošek, Z. Dvořák) were granted the eleventh national patent entitled “Gold complexes with hypoxanthine derivatives and phosphane derivatives and their use for the preparation of drugs in anti-inflammatory and antitumour therapy” (CZ 305585 B6), providing the intellectual property protection of a group of ternary gold(I) complexes containing hypoxanthine derivatives (HL) and phosphane derivatives (PR3) with the general formula [Au(L)(PR3)]. Due to the combination of remarkable anti-inflammatory and anticancer activity of these complexes against breast adenocarcinoma, osteosarcoma, lung cancer, malignant melanoma, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, ovarian cancer resistant to cisplatin, and against prostate cancer, the use of these com;pounds has been patented for the preparation of drugs for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and/or cancer.
