Nanocon 2021 focused on nanomaterials for electronics
Nanomaterials for electronics were the main topic of the 13th Nanocon international conference, which took place from 20 to 22 October in Brno. CATRIN was represented by Radek Zbořil, who presided over the conference programme, or Veronika Šedajová, who received an honourable mention for her poster.
“We had a number of really extraordinary plenary sessions this year. Lectures by Dieter Bimberg from the Technical University of Berlin and Tomas Jungwirth from the Institute of Physics of CAS underpinned the central topic of the conference—the use of nanomaterials for electronic applications. The immense potential of two-dimensional metal carbides and nitrides was elucidated by Yuri Gogotsi from Drexel University. We’ve already outlined other joint research projects with Professor Gogotsi,” said Radek Zbořil.
The programme was divided into five plenary sections dealing with nanomaterials for electronic, magnetic, optical, industrial, or environmental applications; bionanotechnologies; nanomaterials for medicine; the toxicity of nanomaterials; or methods for the preparation and characterisation of nanosystems.
280 scientists from 19 countries attended the conference, five of whom were from CATRIN. Aristides Bakandritsos or Iosif Tantis gave lectures on the use of graphene derivatives in energy and environmental technologies. The conference also involved a poster section. As part of it, Veronika Šedajová was evaluated, receiving an honourable mention, for her poster entitled Nitrogen Doped Graphene in Symmetrical Sustainable Supercapacitor with Record Energy Density.
“I’m truly thankful, it feels great to be appreciated in such stiff competition. I’ve also increased my knowledge of various applications of materials in electronics, alongside having fruitful discussions with other participants and establishing contacts and cooperation,” said Veronika Šedajová.
Magdalena Scheibe, Zuzana Chaloupková, Michaela Polášková or Blažej Scheibe from CATRIN also presented their research through posters.
